Perfectionism Remedies that Changed My Life

While I’ll not be so bold as to say that I’ve totally healed all of my perfectionist tendencies…

The following mindset shifts have helped me to go from “it’s never good enough!” to “pleased with who I am and what I create” much more of the time.

I hope that if you’ve also suffered from the curse of feeling like you’re always striving but never arriving that these two “perfectionism remedies” might bring peace of mind as well.

Perfectionism Remedy #1: Maybe You’re a Maximizer? (And, your so-called “perfectionism” is actually a strength!)

A few years ago, I was invited to take the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment. It’s a test designed to reveal your top natural strengths out of 34 possible themes.

My top strength came out to be “maximizer.” Maximizers are described as “individuals who consistently seek the optimal outcome for any endeavor. They take more pleasure in transforming something good into something excellent rather than transforming something below average into something slightly above average.”

Learning that I’m a “Maximizer” helped me to better appreciate my natural drive to do high quality work. Whereas previously I might judge my tendency to want to put in extra time and effort as “taking too long” or “negative perfectionism”... now, I’m more likely to just trust in my process.

Perfectionism Remedy #2: Remember that Vibration is Everything

My biggest challenges with perfectionism have usually come from focusing on abstract ideas about “what other people want” instead of on what would please me the most.

When I focus outside of myself on other people’s varying ideas, opinions and preferences... I tend to majorly second-guess and over-analyze what I’m doing!

But, as I’ve learned to focus more inwardly... on my own standards, values and feelings ... the creation process has become much more pleasing and productive.

What helps me leave other people’s opinions out of the equation?

The understanding that vibration is everything.

If I feel under-confident about myself or my work because I’m second-guessing, over-analyzing and trying to be “perfect” according to other people’s standards, then the Law of Attraction is going to match that vibration by sending me others who’ll also nitpick and devalue me and what I create.

On the other hand, when I focus upon what pleases me the most, I know I’ll be vibrating with and therefore attracting others who will also be super pleased with me and my creations.

Healing Perfectionism

It can take time to find what works best to move from feeling like “I’ll never measure up!” to good about you and what you do.

But, the more we can learn to feel pleased with ourselves and our creations the more we’re harmonizing with the perspective of our higher self who always sees us in the most loving, positive and empowering way.

Then, we’re able to better relax into flow. We’re able to better tap into intuition. And, we’re able to better allow the brilliance, magic and excellence that exists within us to naturally manifest.

Love and Magic,

Adrianne
